Project Goal
I was tasked to create a series of scratch art masks for the 2025 AIG VBS titled Wonder Junction. These masks were to be animals that fit the "western" theme of the vacation Bible school. These masks would have a layer underneath with various colors so that they could be scratched off to be revealed, creating a fun giveaway for kids to take home!
Design Initiative
To start, I created the basic shape of each 5 animal for the main diecut. From here, I used that shape to create the three different layers needed for the mask. The first layer was the top layer that would be scratched off. This layer consisted of a black background with designed elements over top to make the animal recognizable.
The second layer was the color layer underneath. I decided to use different color gradients under each of the 5 animals so they weren't all identical.
The third layer was the side in which the wearers face would go. This layer included some written content regarding the animal and it's spiritual tie-in.
